1. Meal & Nutrition Data

All meal logs, daily totals, macro goals, and nutrition history are stored exclusively in your browser's local storage. This data never leaves your device. Calorie Estimate does not have a user database, and your food logs are never transmitted to or stored on any server operated by us.

Clearing your browser data or local storage will permanently delete your meal history.

2. No Account Required

Calorie Estimate requires no account, email address, name, or any personally identifiable information to use. We do not collect, store, or process any personal data about you.

3. AI Food Analysis (OpenAI)

When you analyze a meal, the food photo or text description you provide is sent to OpenAI’s API for processing by GPT-4o. OpenAI processes this data according to their Privacy Policy. Calorie Estimate does not store or log the photos or descriptions you submit.

We recommend avoiding the upload of photos that contain sensitive personal information beyond the food itself.

4. Analytics (Google Analytics)

We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate, anonymised usage patterns — such as which pages are visited and how frequently. This helps us improve the product. Google Analytics collects standard internet log information including your IP address (anonymised) and browser type.

Google Analytics does not give us access to any data that identifies you personally. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

5. Cookies

Calorie Estimate uses browser local storage (not cookies) to persist your meal logs and settings. Google Analytics may set cookies to track usage sessions. We do not use any advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. The only third-party service that receives any information is OpenAI (food analysis) and Google (anonymised analytics), both described above.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
